Over the last few days this small club in the South Eastern Suburbs has been has been racing successfully at both a National and local level.

All the riders that have been racing have at some time or another come through the hands of the coaches and parents of the Junior Development Programs at Blackburn which is at the heart of what we do at the club.

The biggest result for us is to see all of the kids learning new skills, stretching themselves, making new friends and having fun along the way, wherever their path takes them.

The following medals and the podiums are just icing on a very big cake.

U15/U17 Track Nationals: Harry Morgan and Sam Gallagher represented Victoria in Sydney and came away with a

• Gold U17 Team Pursuit (Harry)
• Silver Match Sprint (Sam)
• Silver Team Sprint (Sam)
• Bronze Scratch Race (Sam)

J19 / Elite Track Nationals in Anna Meares Velodrome Queensland. We had 2 riders in the J19s with Jemma Eastwood and Godfrey Slattery and the Elite Team had 3 Blackburn members with Caitlin Ward, Conor Rowley and Johnny Cochrane representing Victoria

• Gold J19 3K IP (Godfrey)

On Saturday 4th March Round 6 of the Interschool Series was run at Casey Fields with Mitch McGovern and Blake Williams taking out a 1st and 2nd in the Junior B Category.

Saturday Track Racing at BBN velodrome was also on this weekend. Although due to all the racing on everywhere a lot of the usual riders were not there but we were treated to a masterclass by Sam Gallagher, mixing it up with the strong Masters, taking out A Grade comfortably.

Sunday the 5th of March was the U11/U13 Individual State Champs followed by the Junior Team Track Champs. We had 11 riders in the U11/U13 champs and a massive 23 teams in the afternoon Team Track Champs. The Team Champs is one of the biggest events in the Summer Racing calendar and is a rare opportunity in cycling for the whole club to work together for a single goal.

• Gold JG11 F200
• Gold JM17 Team Sprint
• Silver JB11 Team Pursuit
• Silver JB13 ITT
• Bronze U13 F200
• Bronze U11 ITT
• Bronze JB13 Team Sprint
• Bronze JB15 Team Sprint
• Bronze JB11 Team Pursuit

All of the above results from across the country is only a snapshot of the riders that actually competed across all of the multiple events but it is amazing to see these results all in one place and even more amazing that it is only over a week in the life of the club. Think about what’s possible over 52 weeks a year.
