Busier than a Mechanic at the TDF

Although it’s cold and a bit wet, this time of year is full on. As we are so busy we thought it was best to send out an update so everyone knows what is happening and can stay up to date:

Racing

• Junior Tour: Thanks again to everyone for helping out at the Junior Tour, it takes a village to run these events and we had newbies and some old familiar faces join us to make it such a great success. It’s always a challenge when you try something different but the feedback from the 2 days has been very promising. We look to make it even better next year.

• Bendigo: The juniors are off to Bendigo this weekend, with 2 days of racing. It’s a new format this year with 2 separate days of racing and no General Classification. The Junior Tour Series ends in Bendigo and hopefully the BBN riders who are leading their relevant categories can maintain their form and bring home the series win. Good luck to everyone.

• Casey Fields Winter Crit Racing is on Saturday the 22nd of July , Rego from 1:30pm , all details on the Team App http://blackburncyclingclub.teamapp.com/events/3199178

• METEC Racing will be held on the 12th of August http://blackburncyclingclub.teamapp.com/events/3178818 . This will also incorporate the J9 and J11 Road Club Champs

• Club Championships: The preparations have commenced for the Club Championships to be held in Cora Lynn on the 10th September. There is nothing else on the CV calendar that day so no one has an excuse not to ride (unless you are racing in Europe). The racing will be by Age Group and medals will be awarded for both Regional and Club winners. This year again we are joined by SMCC, CCCC, MCC and MCL to make it a great day out for all the South East clubs.

• There is a CX Race is on at Caribbean Gardens on the 23rd July. The 5th Round of the Vic CX Series will be held in our backyard and entries are currently open until the 16th of July details here: http://vic.cycling.org.au/Events-Results/Event-Details/bicycle-beer-vicxs-rd-5-mclcx this is a great opportunity to try out your new skills and you do not need a CX bike (rules on the website) and Kids are free. Adam Blazevic will be racing in A Grade so you can cheer him on.

• NJTS: The annual National Junior Track Series is around the corner, watch out for an expression of interest for the events around Australia. It is open to J15s to j17s to represent their club at a National level.

Training

• We will be holding First Aid Course (HLT AID 003 & CPR) level 2 at the club rooms on Sat 26/08 commencing at 11am. Further info to be made available next week but this is a great opportunity for everyone to get a skill required in our everyday lives.

• Monday Nights at DISC and Wednesday Night Ergo and Barilla Pasta are still on and everyone is welcome. There is a reason our riders are getting the results across the Junior Tours and Winter Track Series events, so jump on board. Saturday’s JDP will be at Siemens this weekend (15th July)

Sponsors

• Our sponsor Culture of Cycling has moved from Richmond to a new address at 326 Darebin Road Fairfield, just around the corner from DISC. On Monday evenings he is staying open until 7pm to accommodate BBN members who might be attending DISC. Heath also wants to hold a special night for BBN members as an opening event, we will communicate the details as we work through them but keep an eye out.
