LIZ RANDALL ATTEMPTS WORLD HOUR RECORD 75-79 YEAR AGE CATEGORY

7 Feb 2019 by Andrew FITZGERALD

Dear Blackburn Members & Friends,

Message to let you know club member Liz Randall will be attempting break the World UCI Hour Record 75-79 year age category this Sunday (10/2/2019) at 0900 in the DISC velodrome Darebin Road Thornbury. This will be a new attempt in her new age group category.

The attempt is at the start of the second day of the Victorian Masters Track Championships so there will be plenty of racing to watch following Liz’s attempt.

The current record stands at 27.894km ie 111.576 laps to break it. Liz states, “After last year’s experience, I know that what I do in training bears little or no resemblance at all to what I do on the day, so I will make no comment on whether I can or cannot create a new record. Any support will be gratefully welcomed…up to date I have been alive for ~~650,000 hours, but this hour has to be the longest and most painful.”

Liz looks forward to seeing as many people as possible supporting her from the sidelines.
