Thankyou Emerson!

From the Blackburn Cycling Club, we would like to thank Emerson Harwood for his years of loyal service to the Club. Emerson came from the Junior ranks, racing around the Blackburn velodrome, as a scrawny little kid. He soon found himself knocking heads with the big boys on the World Sprint stage, and was one of the fastest Junior sprinters in the World !!

For the last 6 years, Emerson has tirelessly given his time to coaching young athletes, and has produced numerous State and National Champions, for both track and road. Emerson has been our main coach at DISC on a Monday night, and has grown the group from around 10 cyclists a night, to a regular 40 + cyclists. His passion and knowledge of the sport has been inspiring, and he will be surely missed.

Emerson is completing a teaching degree, and needs to give his final year his full attention. He will therefore be taking a break from coaching, to concentrate on his new career. Look out for Emerson at a Primary School near you!! I’m sure they will have the best cycling program of any school in the State!!

Monday night’s head coach will now be Marty Elsum, who also has years of knowledge and skills, that he can pass onto the next generation!!
